Fun with senses

In science we have been learning about our five senses. Today we focused on our sense of hearing. We made "super" listening ears headbands and went on a listening walk. The kids really enjoyed searching and listening to things they could hear all around them! We thought they looked so cute with their big ears on!

First weeks of school

We started learning how to use our iPads today. The class really loved working in partners and exploring the apps! We hope to teach and do a lot of fun things with them this year!

This week we have also been learning all about letters, more specifically the letters in our names. We read Chicka-Chicka- Boom-Boom and matched alphabet letters on the tree as well as making our own names in the trees. The kids really liked sticking on the glittery letters.

Welcome 2015-16 school year!!

We have had a great first week of school! We have enjoyed getting to know all of our new kiddos and can't wait to see where this year takes them all! They are already becoming fast friends! Here are some pictures of our first days at recess.

Valentine's for Staff Members

Today we listened to the story, Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch and then chose staff members to write valentines for. The kids had so much fun choosing and writing special staff members at our school that help us each and every day.

Learning About the Seasons

This week we are learning about the four seasons. Today, students worked with a partner to create a scene on the iPads using the app Feltboard. The students chose a season and created a realistic scene for that season. After much discussion, we all decided we wish we could have some REAL snow fall in Friendswood. 😄

Fall Craft with Mrs. Geno

Mrs. Geno came today and did a Fall craft with us. We wrote down things we were thankful for on orange pieces if paper and transformed them into a pumpkin!  We are going to hang them in our room for the rest of the month! Thank you Mrs. Geno for coming today and spending time with us!

Exploring Magnets

This week we explored magnets. We had so much fun seeing which objects magnets were attracted to. We learned that anything with iron in it, a magnet will stick to it! We learned that the bigger a magnet is, the more it can pick up. We even saw how magnets could move objects without touching it!

Learning About Our Senses

This week we had fun learning about our five senses. we made a hand that showed how different things feel.

Some of the things we put on our hands were. wax paper, cotton balls, popcorn kernels, sand paper, macaroni.

We learned about colors and got to sort M&M candies, to see which color we had the most of. Then we got to eat them! They tasted great!

Then, in our science journal we wrote and drew pictures of five things we saw around the room. To end our week we got to popcorn and smell it, hear it, feel it , look at it, and best of all TASTE it!! It was  amazing!

Also we would like to introduce you to our new class helper Ms. Bonnie. She is from the high school and is here every week to help us in our classroom. We are very excited to get to know her better and have fun with her!!
It has been a super good week in Kindergarten!! See you next time!!
