Rockin' Rocks
This past week we learned all about rocks. The kids had a great time categorizing rocks by their features. I'm so impressed that they know what a rock's luster is. :) We also learned many interesting facts and painted rocks! Here are some pictures from our study.

Education Foundation Prize Patrol!!!
The education foundation came to our school today to award the teachers who wrote grants and were funded! This is always a very exciting event! some of the high school band comes as well as the mustang mascot members of the foundation. They bring balloons and big checks and we find out if some or all of our grants have been adopted! Well I am excited to say that thank you to many generous donations from individuals and companies we were awarded all of our grant for a total of $1,552.00!!! Which gives us a total of 5 new iPad minis and accessories in our class!! This is so exciting to us to now have a 2 to 1 ration of students to iPads! It allows us to do so much more with them in class! I hope that you have enjoyed hearing about and seeing some of the things we have done with the iPads so far in our class. We can't wait to go even further with them now! A big thank you to all our contributors and everyone who supports the education foundation! It truly helps provide us with the things we need to teach and change the world one kid at a time!! Here are some pictures from this morning!

Film makers in training
We tried our hand last week at a new iPad app and project. We used iMovie to create movie trailers to use as invitations for open house. iMovie has them premade and all the groups had to do was pick their template, add and change some words, and finally take pictures of our class. Then iMovie puts it all together Into a really cool little movie trailer. This was their first experience with this, and I must say they did great!! I was very impressed! We will all be movie makers in no time ;) Hopefully we will be building on these skills some more this year, and actually start taking some live video and posting to YouTube for you to see.

Somebody loves you Mrs...
We read books and learned about the importance of making people feel loved and appreciated. We connected it to our character curriculum in "filling buckets." We discussed how people who might not always feel appreciated for the job they do, would love to know they are thought of and how it would fill up their bucket. We decided to make Valentine's cards for our custodian, Ms. Yolanda and our cafeteria workers. We wrote poems and presented the cards to them. I must say it really filled their buckets and ours! They were almost brought to tears! I just love the thoughtfulness and kindness that full out sweet kiddos hearts!!
Love is in the air
