Patterning Practice
We are learning all about patterns this week. We are working on identifying, naming, extending, and creating patterns. Yesterday we all created patterns and had our friends at our tables extend them. Today we did another project on our iPads. We each made a pattern then labeled and recorded the pattern'a name using an app called Explain Everything. I LOVE this app and can't wait to use it again!

Exploring Force and Motion
We've been learning about force and motion this week. Today we talked about how when we move objects on an incline, they move faster. We learned the words incline, slope, and speed. We used blocks, clipboards, folders, and even our supply boxes to build ramps to send our cars down. The kids loved the challenge of building the "fastest" ramp. Of course, we decided that our slides on the playground made the best ramps!

Apples, Apples Everywhere!
This week we learned all about apples. I'm so mad at myself for getting to snap pictures every day of our learning, but I thought at least I could write down what we did. We started the week off by introducing our science journals. We talked about the parts of an apple, the weighed apples with scales, we talked about circumference and did the circumference of an apple. Of course the kids favorite was talking about how apples can be changed with heat. We made homemade applesauce in class

Dennis Lee Performance
Today the kids got to watch the FABULOUS Dennis Lee put on his production of, Army of One. They (and I) LOVED it! Me. Lee teaches character education with the help of his "friends." Ask your child tonight what they liked most about today's performance!

Ten Black Dots
Yesterday we read a book called Ten Black Dots. It is a book that talks about number sets up to ten in a creative way. The author and illustrator took each number set and created a picture using that number of dots. After reading, the students got to use their creativity to make their own picture. They drew a number out of a bucket and then used that number in their pictures. It was so neat to see their creativity and pictures come to life!
App Crayons are AWESOME!
IToday we used our two new styluses! We had to rotate them through our six groups, but we do have two more in the mail! The kids loved using them and it really helped teach them how to hold a pencil. Here are some pictures of them using them for the first time!
